阿拉巴马州的多坍. (WDHN) — With another one million Americans filing for unemployment, the economy is suffering. Many are worried they have to face the pandemic while storms vastly approach.
At Wallace Community College, economic and business professor Delmar Smith says this will have a huge impact on the local economy.
“Most businesses fear the unknown.. and we’re in the middle of an unknown situation and have no idea when it will end,史密斯说。. “Many businesses are open today and have no idea if they’ll be open a month from now,史密斯说。.
Smith says the closing and evacuations only makes matters worst. He believes it will take longer to prepare because of the lack of supplies in many grocery stores. As the economy weakens, this will make the process of preparing for a storm a little longer due to uncertainty of everything.
This isn’t just affecting businesses, he says it’s affecting schooling as well.
He believes the economy and communities are more resilient than we think and believes we will survive this. “My advice would be don’t panic just try to prepare and then do the best you can from there,史密斯说。.
